The Bay Area is home. I live here, I raised my family here, and this is where the majority of my matches are concentrated — San Francisco, San Mateo, Palo Alto, and East Bay. I’ve hosted Ivy+ mixers, numerous mahjong parties, and private matchmaking events across the region for years, which means my network here isn’t theoretical. It’s people I’ve met, sat across from, and gotten to know.

Locally, I am very involved in my community - from being the President of the Piedmont Asian American Club, to being the co-chair of the Business Leadership Council for Asian Health Services and the San Francisco brand ambassador for an Asian women’s professional group - The Authentic Asian. My Silicon Valley clients are founders, engineers, product leaders, venture capitalists, partners at firms, professors at Stanford, doctors, and senior executives at companies whose names you’d recognize. Many are first- or second-generation — Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, Indian — some even with parents who ask about their relationships with love and persistence. While most are highly intelligent, curious and problem solvers - sometimes the smartest people are so busy and are missing that special partner in their lives. That is where we come in and get them to the front of the line.

Not all of my clients are Asian. A number are people whose lives already cross cultures — who lived or worked in Asia, whose careers are international, or whose families already are — and who want a partner who understands that world. In the Valley that’s unremarkable, and those matches are some of the most rewarding introductions I make.

Why Dating Here Is Harder Than It Should Be

The Valley optimizes everything except this. You A/B test, you iterate, you measure. Dating resists all of it. The instinct to treat it as an engineering problem is exactly what keeps smart people stuck for years.

Your social graph is your org chart. Engineering, your team, your portfolio companies, your cohort. Dating inside your own company is complicated at best, and the alternative is a dating app full of people doing the same thing.

The hours don’t bend. Series A crunch, launch cycles, on-call rotations, the 8pm Slack that becomes 11pm. “After this quarter” turns into after this year, and then after this decade.

Everyone here is impressive, and that’s the problem. When the whole room has a strong resume, credentials stop being a signal. What actually predicts a lasting partnership — emotional steadiness, how someone handles difficulty, whether they can be influenced — doesn’t show up on LinkedIn.
