Asian Matchmaker in Taipei
Matchmaking Between Taipei and the United States
AWM Love offers bespoke matchmaking for Taipei professionals and for Taiwanese families whose children are building lives abroad — across Da’an, Xinyi, Tianmu and Neihu, and across the Pacific to San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York and Boston. Private, personal, and rooted in a tradition my own family has practised for three generations. My clients come from every background, and cross-cultural matches are central to this work.
Why Taipei Is Personal For Me
Taipei is where my family is from, and it is where my Chinese comes from.
I spent five summers here as a girl, living in my grandfather’s old wooden house with my cousins. The days had a shape to them — Chinese lessons in the morning, then brush painting, then the guzheng, the Chinese harp, which I was never especially good at and loved anyway. The afternoons belonged to the street: snow ice until our teeth ached, chrysanthemum tea filling a plastic bag, and the humidity of a Taipei summer that anyone who has lived through one remembers forever.
That is where my Mandarin came from. At a local language school. Not a classroom in California — a wooden house full of cousins where nobody was going to slow down for me.
I’m a third-generation 紅娘, and the tradition reached me the same way the language did: at home, through my mother and my grandmother, long before I thought of it as work. So when I talk about ancient wisdom applied to modern love, I am not describing something I studied. I am describing the house I spent my summers in.
Credentials
I’m a third-generation Chinese matchmaker (紅娘) and a former Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan investment banker. I’ve been featured in Business Insider, NBC News Daily, and ABC News. I bring both the ancient wisdom of the 紅娘 tradition and a very modern understanding of the lives my clients actually lead.
Who I Work With In Taipei
It All Starts With Learning About You and….Who You’d Love to Meet.
My Taipei-connected clients fall into two groups. The first are professionals in Taipei — in technology, semiconductors, finance, medicine and family enterprise — many of whom studied abroad and returned. The second are Taiwanese families whose adult children are in the United States, often in California or the Northeast, and who would like them matched with someone who understands where they come from. I work with both, and frequently with both halves of the same family.
Not all of my clients are Asian. Some are people whose lives already cross cultures — who studied or worked in Asia, or whose families already do — and who want a partner who understands both halves. Given how many of my Taipei-connected clients are themselves living between two countries, those matches are natural here.
Why Dating Here Is Harder Than It Should Be
Returnees come home to a social world that moved on. You studied in the States, built a life there, and came back. Your school friends married while you were away, and rebuilding a social circle in your thirties in Taipei is genuinely difficult.
The distance between generations is real. Parents want to help and often want to introduce. Adult children want autonomy. Both are acting out of love and they frequently talk past each other. A matchmaker who understands the tradition can hold both sides at once.
Cross-Pacific matching is nobody’s specialty. Families in Taipei with children in California have almost no good way to find someone appropriate. Local Taiwanese introductions don’t reach the United States, and American dating culture doesn’t account for the family at all.
The work culture is as demanding as anywhere I know. Semiconductor and technology careers in Taiwan run on hours that rival Hong Kong and New York. The same structural narrowing happens: your circle becomes your company.

Client Success Story
We had a very tough client - a gentleman from Taipei. He was charming, tall, outgoing and sold a medical business. Yet there was an underlying sadness, he had lost his fiance 4 years prior. We had hm meet many many wonderful matches but he was still not satisfied. So we dug into what was going on and - he simply missed his fiance. We gently noted that we cannot find a “replacement” and that love comes in different forms. We recommended a 6-month break - no extra fee in that case. And we recently restarted with him again - after 8 months actually. But its different now - he is dating intentionally and taking the time to learn about his dates vs trying to see if they could measure up to an impossible standard.

FAQs
Do you speak Chinese and work with Chinese-speaking families?
My child lives in the US. Can you match them from here?
I studied abroad and came back. Is that a common situation for your clients?
What does being a third-generation matchmaker actually mean in practice?
How much does a matchmaker in Taipei cost?
I'm not Asian. Would I be a fit for your practice?
Do you only work with Taiwanese or Chinese clients?
Still deciding?
My background is unusual — third-generation 紅娘, Goldman Sachs and J.P. Morgan, Wellesley, and 35 years of doing this. It's also what makes me good at the specific thing I do, which is connecting exceptional people. But being effective isn't enough on its own. There has to be fit, and there has to be care. If you don't feel that when we talk, I'd rather you know it early — and so would I. The first call is free, and it goes both ways.
